Mike Rowell Custom Signworks: was founded on the belief that quality craftsmanship never goes out of style. What began as a passion for woodworking has grown into a business dedicated to creating heirloom-quality pieces that tell a story and stand the test of time.
I'm Mike Rowell, a self-taught woodcarver and former fire lieutenant based in Rochester, New Hampshire. Every project is designed and carved by hand using freehand routing, relief carving, and traditional woodworking techniques. I specialize in custom business signs, farmhouse décor, retirement and recognition plaques, memorials, military and first responder tributes, personalized gifts, and one-of-a-kind commissioned artwork. Whether it's a family name sign, a large business entrance sign, or a meaningful memorial, each piece receives the same level of care and attention to detail.
I work with a variety of premium hardwoods and carefully selected softwoods, choosing each board for its unique grain, character, and suitability for the project. Every carving is individually designed, sculpted, hand-finished, and sealed for lasting beauty and durability. My goal is to create more than just a sign—I create pieces that become part of a family's home, a business's identity, or a lasting tribute to someone who made a difference.
Many of my favorite projects honor firefighters, law enforcement officers, military veterans, and other public servants. Having served in the fire service myself, I understand the pride, sacrifice, and tradition behind those careers, and I consider it an honor to create pieces that recognize a lifetime of dedication.

Accessibility info: Driveway is paved, parking is available close to entrance. One step up into the home, narrow doorways (our home is very old), those with walkers and canes would do fine. Wheelchairs would be difficult to maneuver.
